Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I made a promise to you, my readers, that The TechnicalCounsel(sm) News would be quarterly. However, no sooner had the February issue gone to press, when some items which will be old news by the time our next issue finalizes.

In this issue:

IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Visitors Program sponsors speeches by Mr. Gezelter

IEEE Computer Society Northern New Jersey Chapter hosts speech on Architectural Techniques for Interoperability and Coexistence

The
IEEE Computer Society's Northern New Jersey Chapter has graciously invited Mr. Gezelter, as part of the IEEE Computer Society's Distinguished Visitors speaking program, to present Architectural Techniques for Interoperability and Coexistence on Tuesday, March 22, 2005.

This presentation will examine how systems and software architectures enable long system life. Good architectures eliminate the need for expensive, on-going revisions. Good architecture also enables systems to evolve to additional tasks and missions without incompatible changes. Systems can operate efficiently for decades without architectural revision, much less incompatible revisions.

IEEE Computer Society Binghamton Chapter hosts speech on Safe Computing in the Age of Ubiquitous Connectivity

The IEEE Computer Society's Binghamton, New York Chapter has graciously invited Mr. Gezelter, as part of the IEEE Computer Society's Distinguished Visitors speaking program, to present Safe Computing in the Age of Ubiquitous Connectivity on Friday, April 1, 2005.

This presentation will examine the challenge of today’s “office”, which is anywhere one happens to be: cubicle, conference room, customer site, coffee shop, or park. Broadband connections, both wired and wireless, enable this agility, and expose information systems to new challenges and responsibilities.
